Complete Face Lift

Is a surgical procedure used to lift facial tissue and make the skin look as it was before time had its effect on it. If you feel young and lively, but your mirror no longer shows you that image, a facelift may be of great help to you. Challenge the passage of time.

It tightens the skin and lax (hypotonic) muscles of the face. It helps improve the youthful appearance of mature people (about 40 years old) that have not aged yet and that wish to delay the aging process for personal or professional reasons. It rejuvenates the face of older people. The rejuvenating effect will be more impressive if the aging marks such as wrinkles and hanging skin are more pronounced. It is divided in two areas: a) Upper or temporal lift (also known as mini-face lift or lateral brow lift): it illuminates and refreshes the look and can be performed as a single procedure in young people who do not need to have their cheeks rejuvenated. b) Mid lift: used to correct the cheeks. Performed together with eye lift surgery (blepharoplasty), neck lift surgery, and brow lift surgery, it completely rejuvenates the face and neck. The neck lift tightens skin and muscle that has become loose and hanging due to aging or hereditary family traits. It also removes excess fat from the neck and the double chin.

The surgery

The surgeon makes a vertical incision from the temples to the upper part of the ears. This incision, which is usually made behind the hair-growth line so that the resulting scar will be concealed, is the one used in upper or temporal lift surgery. In mid lift surgery (cheeks), the same temporal incision we just described extends further down in front of the ears and follows their natural outline to the back (periauricular line). By means of this incision, the surgeon separates the muscle and the skin from the face, he tightens them and replaces them further up to achieve a more youthful look. He cuts the excess skin and muscle and sutures. In order to rejuvenate lower areas of the face, such as the outline of the jaw, it is necessary to perform neck lift surgery. In order to perform the neck lift, the surgeon makes an incision that has two sections: the first one is vertical and extends behind each ear (retroauricular), and the second one is horizontal and extends about 2 inches (5 cm) along the hair-growth line on the back of the neck (mastoid). In some cases it may be necessary to make a small incision under the chin and/or a liposuction of the double chin to obtain better results. By means of these incisions, the surgeon separates the muscle and the skin from the neck, he tightens them and replaces them further up to achieve a more youthful look. He cuts the excess skin and muscle and sutures

This is an ambulatory procedure.

Anesthesia: Local anesthesia and complementary sedation, or general anesthesia, according to the complexity of the case.

Surgery length: Between 90 minutes and 2 hours if it is partial. Between 3 and 4 hours if it is complete.

The Results

The results of face lift surgery are very noticeable and last quite long. Most patients are satisfied with them. A face lift will not, of course, make time stop, but it will make your face look younger and fresher for a long time. It does not eliminate crow's feet nor wrinkles around the lips, since these wrinkles do not appear as a result of the aging process, but due to repeated muscle contraction. It does not produce any changes in the area above the eyes. In order to do that, forehead or brow lift surgery will be necessary With this surgery, even after more than 10 years, you will look younger than you really are and you will look much better than if you had never had it.

Eye Lid Lift (Blepharoplasty)

This procedure is designed to improve the appearance of the eyes by removing excess skin and/or fat from the upper and/or lower eyelids, making the skin less wrinkled and puffy. When performed on the upper lid, it helps to produce a more wide-awake look, while the removal of excess fatty tissue and wrinkled skin from the lower eyelid has a rejuvenating effect on the face, eliminating or reducing that ‘tired’ look

The surgery

On this procedure, the surgeon makes incisions that follow the natural lines of the patient's eyelids. This helps to minimize the appearance of scars. For the upper eyelids, the incision is made in the creases of the upper lids. For the lower eyelids, the incision is made just below the lashes. The surgeon may extend the incision into the laugh lines (a.k.a. "Crow's Feet") at the outer corners of your eyes in order to reduce their appearance. Using these incisions, your plastic surgeon will separate the skin from the tissue underneath. The excess fat is removed and sagging skin and muscle is trimmed. Your plastic surgeon will close the incisions using very fine sutures.

This is an ambulatory procedure.

Anesthesia: Local anesthesia and complementary sedation, or general anesthesia, according to the complexity of the case.

Surgery length: the surgery will last between one and three hours

The Results

After the blepharoplasty surgery is complete, your eyes will be lubricated with an ointment. Bandages may or may not be applied to the wounds, depending on whether or not they're needed. Once the anesthesia wears off, you may feel a tightness around your eyelids and they may feel sore. The tightness and soreness is not unusual, but if you feel severe pain, call your plastic surgeon immediately. You will be given a prescription for pain medication. The pain medication should be sufficient to control any discomfort you might have. Once the stitches are out, you should notice some pretty fast improvement. As an added bonus, you'll feel better without the stitches, too. Healing after surgery takes time. Your scars will eventually fade and become nearly invisible. Until that happens, you can expect that the scars will be pinkish. The pinkness can persist for a half year or so. That's why the sunscreen is important. The sun can make scars appear more prominent, so protecting them from the sun is essential. For many blepharoplasty patients, the results are permanent. For others, the effects last many years.

Rhinoplasty (Nose Job)

Is a surgical procedure used to modify the size and shape of the nose in order to give it a more pleasant look. Harmonise your nose and show off a really proportionate face. It corrects unaesthetic characteristics in noses that are too long or too big, bulbous, with a hump or with a 'hanging' tip. It narrows the nostrils, if they are too wide. It corrects deformities such as those acquired as a result of accidents. It helps correct certain breathing problems. It can give the nose a more masculine or feminine look, according to the standards of proportion and harmony prescribed for each sex.

It cannot reproduce an exact copy of the nose of someone famous. Remember that there is no such thing as two noses that look exactly the same, that each face has its own proportions, volumes, angles and outlines, and that the same nose that looks beautiful on one face may look odd if it were reproduced exactly on your own. Even though it will make your face look more beautiful and harmonious, and it will probably also improve your self-esteem, it will not be enough to make you look perfect. We must be realistic and accept that that kind of perfection does not exist

The surgery

Working through the nostrils, without the need of making any exterior incisions, the surgeon reaches the cartilage and bone located under the skin, he may rasp or trim them with special instruments to give the nose the desired shape and size. In more complex cases, where deeper modifications are needed, it may be necessary to perform a little cut across the columella (the tissue that divides the nostrils) to access the bone. The shape and width of the nostrils may also be modified. This is done by means of two incisions at the base of the nose wings, these incisions become imperceptible soon after the surgery.Hospitalisation There is no need to be hospitalised, it is done on an outpatient basis Anesthesia: Local anesthesia and complementary sedation, or general anesthesia. Length of rhinoplasty surgery: One or two hours.
